New Hyundai i30 3-Door Special Edition
(PRWEB) July 01, 2013 -- Hyundai has added a new model to the popular New-Generation i30 line up with a ‘Special Edition’ i30 3-door hatchback, further extending the broad appeal of its Euro-style small car range. The i30 Special Edition delivers the same award-winning design, technology, safety features and passenger comfort of its sibling models, plus additional standard equipment supported by an efficient GDI engine.
Designed at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany, the 3-door's styling incorporates Hyundai’s ‘fluidic sculpture’ design language with a distinct Euro flair. The unique body style includes an upswept belt-line, more angular glasshouse silhouette and sleek side character lines, while longer front doors help emphasise the car’s dynamic profile. A passenger walk-in device allows easy access to the rear seats.
Deluxe dark chrome accentuates Hyundai’s signature hexagonal grille, which is flanked by projector beam headlamps, beneath which are fog lamp clusters surrounded by LED daytime running light strips.
At the rear, the remodelled lower bumper area includes new horizontal, sculpted fog lamps, and a fresh black insert at the bottom of the bumper creates the impression of a wider, ground-hugging rear design. The bumper also houses the rear parking sensors. Finishing the rear profile is a sporty spoiler with LED high-mount stop lamp.
Complementing the sporty shape of the i30 Special Edition, 16-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels complete the exterior transformation. A full-size spare is included.
POWER
The i30 Special Edition is available with the 1.6 litre GDi petrol engine from Hyundai’s efficient Gamma engine family. This high-tech Gasoline Direct Injection (GDi) offers excellent drivability, fuel economy and reduced emissions, achieving a 5-star Green Vehicle Guide rating for manual variant (4.5-star for the automatic).
The 1.6 litre GDi achieves 98kW @ 6300 rpm and 163Nm @ 4850 rpm and is available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic featuring sequential manual mode.
SAFETY
Designed to achieve a maximum 5-star safety rating, the i30 Special Edition offers a comprehensive suite of active and passive safety technologies. Standard across the models are Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), and ABS with EBD & Brake Assist System (BAS), while advanced passive safety features include the use of ultra-high tensile steel within the body shell and seven airbags as standard.
Rear Parking distance sensors are mounted in the rear bumper and provide an audible chime when objects are detected in the sensor zone offering added safety for reversing manoeuvres.
A raft of passive safety features include Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), LED high-mount stop lamp (HMSL), and LED daytime running lamps integrated into front fog lamps.
The i30 Special Edition also offers a speed limiter function, allowing the driver to define a speed which the vehicle will not exceed. In emergency situations, where acceleration beyond the set limit is required, the system is automatically overridden once full throttle is applied.
INTERIOR
Equipment in the i30 Special Edition maintains the same award winning level as its sibling 5-door models, including ambient temperature and digital clock display, trip computer with instant and average fuel consumption, distance to empty, trip distance and average speed and time elapsed readouts. An Active Eco function in variants fitted with automatic transmission smooths out throttle response and optimises transmission logic in order to maximise fuel economy, while cruise control and speed limiter functions mounted on the steering wheel offer added convenience.
For comfort and ease there is a height adjustable driver’s seat, tilt and telescopic steering adjust, height adjustable front and rear head restraints, front sun visors with vanity mirrors, glove box cooling and illumination, remote keyless entry, front power windows with one-touch auto-down, and two 12V power outlets located in the centre console.
A comprehensive 5” touch screen audio system with four speakers & two tweeters features media ripping, AUX / USB audio input with full digital iPod® compatibility, full Bluetooth connectivity (hands free phone operation and audio streaming) and includes MP3 CD player with AM/FM tuner with steering wheel mounted audio controls.
The i30 Special Edition doesn’t compromise on space, with a cargo area offering 378 litre capacity with rear seats in place, and 1316 litre with rear seats folded. An underfloor storage box provides additional space.
The i30 Special Edition is available in five exterior colours; Creamy White (solid), Cool Red (solid), Sleek Silver (metallic), Aqua Blue (metallic), and Phantom Black (mica), all matched back to a black long-life cloth contrast cloth/fabric interior.
