IDARF Welcomes Matt Kupec as Senior Fundraising Counsel
TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) August 23, 2018 -- International Drug Awareness Research Foundation (IDARF) — an international organization involved in the research, development, and distribution of visual high-impact drug awareness, prevention and educational materials — announces the appointment of Matt Kupec as senior fundraising counsel.
Kupec, a veteran fundraiser with 30+ years in significant fundraising experience, has led the fundraising programs at a number of major organizations. Under his leadership, nearly $5 billion has been raised, and Kupec has directed three successful fundraising campaigns.
"We are very pleased to gain the services of such a recognized and successful fundraiser as Matt Kupec to the IDARF team," said Thomas J. Zatylny, president & CEO, IDARF. "We are delighted that he is bringing his expertise, talents, and most importantly his passion to us to help us dramatically increase our fundraising efforts to support our efforts to teach children and adults about the devastating effects of drug abuse.”
Most recently, Kupec was the Executive Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer at the Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa, FL. At Moffitt, fundraising skyrocketed from $13 million to $37 million in just one year. Kupec helped secure seven $1 million commitments when the historical average had been less than two $1+ gifts per year.
Kupec served for twenty years as the vice chancellor for university advancement at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from where he successfully directed two major fundraising campaigns – the $2.38 billion Carolina First Campaign and the $440 million Bicentennial Campaign. UNC was awarded 12 CASE (Council for the Support and Advancement of Education) Awards for outstanding performance during Kupec’s tenure, more than any other University in America during that time.
Earlier in his career, Kupec’s roles have included vice president for development and marketing at HelpMeSee, a nonprofit in New York City; founder and chairman of Text2Give, Inc., in Chapel Hill, NC; and assistant vice president for development & alumni relations at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY.
Kupec earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1980 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in Education Administration in 1985 from Hofstra University.
