Author Linda McClung highlights the deceptive nature of abuse and offers a lifeline to victims
CLOVER, S.C., Aug. 8, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- More than half (51%) of adults who were abused as children experience domestic abuse in later life. In author Linda McClung's new novel, readers witness this cycle in effect and how the protagonist works to end it.
Annie Taylor is a woman who grew up watching her father abuse her mother. She then unwittingly falls into a similar relationship in McClung's latest, "Love is."
When Annie leaves college to care for her dying mother, she finds herself also caring for her younger sister, with no money and no place to live. Soon, a handsome young man offers to take care of her, but it turns into a fight for her life.
"I spent my career working primarily with women and they told their stories of being abused, physically, emotionally, verbally and financially," said McClung. "Many women do not recognize the abuse until it is too late."
McClung spent her life as a nurse, where she learned that abuse crosses all age groups, socioeconomic levels and religions. Many women do not recognize it, at first, and it is often well-kept secret among religious groups. She hopes her book will help empower women to speak out and help uncover and assist victims of abuse.
"I have studied God's word my entire life and spent many years teaching women scriptural truths in small Bible study groups," said McClung. "I believe that in all things God works for the good of
those who love him, and together we can help stop this abuse."
