InspiriTec Earns First-Ever National Innovation Award
SourceAmerica™ recognizes InspiriTec's nimble and creative response to the pandemic, pivoting from a brick-and-mortar call center and IT help desk environment to a work-from-home reality.
PHILADELPHIA, June 8, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- InspiriTec is excited to announce that it is the first-ever winner of the SourceAmerica™ Innovation Award.
The national award honors a nonprofit organization that created new ways to keep its doors open and workers employed during the COVID-19 crisis.
"In response to the pandemic," the May 19 announcement said, InspiriTec "rapidly pivoted their Contact Center and IT Help Desk services from in-office to an at-home setting, successfully transitioning 570 employees in just 15 calendar days." SourceAmerica™ singled out the quick creation of an innovative "Work from Home" Task Force of multidisciplinary team members representing each of its four locations.
"This is major," said Dean Marino, Director of Strategy and Innovation at InspiriTec. "SourceAmerica™ is literally the largest disability employment agency in the country, and to have our work recognized by them really elevates InspiriTec and recognizes the resilience of our workforce."
"We started all together in one ship, all going in one direction, and now we're all in individual lifeboats, digitally connected," said InspiriTec cofounder and CEO John Connolly. "And yet we have maintained quality -- at a time when we've been hiring people, at an 80 percent growth rate, made possible by partnering with customers who trusted us not only to build new teams during the pandemic, but also to deliver excellent unemployment assistance services to customers at an especially difficult time."
Katherine Galloway, a Customer Care Representative at the U.S. Army Human Resource Command Center, Fort Knox, Kentucky, says that "the transition was really something at first. Everyone started with a regular office, and then we had to make the change. But we have a great team, and they made the transition pretty easy. They provided us with laptops to bring home, and programs that let us do the job and stay connected.
"I'm in a wheelchair," Galloway said, " and for me the change has been really beneficial: my statistics actually got better when I started working from home." She says she appreciates the little extras that help fend off isolation, including emails announcing activities such as cooking and painting classes, and a buddy system in which workers get to know and support one another.
"Caring for customers is key," Connolly said, "but so is caring for our workers, maintaining the mental and physical well-being of our people. It's crucial to maintain not just our digital connectivity, but also our human connectivity."
Marino credits the managers at InspiriTec. "We wouldn't be winning awards like this," he said, "if it weren't for our IT managers, operations managers, and HR/social service case managers. They showed their creativity, learning new ways to manage the workforce and do business. The Work From Home Task Force gave them the tools, and the managers figured things out on the ground."
