DETROIT, Aug. 3, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The 8th Annual Jalen Rose Leadership Academy Celebrity Golf Classic will be held August 26th and 27th in Detroit. The much anticipated weekend will be hosted by 13-year NBA Star and current ABC/ESPN analyst, Jalen Rose, and his celebrity friends to benefit the open enrollment, public charter high school he founded in his hometown.
The event will tip-off on Sunday, August 26th with a Red Carpet and Gala Presented by MGM Grand Detroit, an MGM Resorts International property. Celebrities and guests will enter the exquisite MGM Grand Ballroom via a Red Carpet for a star-studded Gala along with a special performance to be announced. Hosted by Jalen Rose and Seema Sadekar, the evening will be filled with specialty food, signature cocktails and live entertainment.
On the morning of Monday, August 27th, the historic Detroit Golf Club will host the 8th Annual Jalen Rose Leadership Academy Celebrity Golf Classic presented by Tom Gores and Platinum Equity. The golf experience will feature notable celebrities joining foursomes, a $5K putting contest and $1 million shot as well as luxury gift bags featuring premium items from Puma and other donors. The event will be played on both notable courses and has sold out the past two years.

The Jalen Rose Leadership Academy is proud to share their scholar success stories, whether they are working towards high school graduation, matriculating to college or persisting towards a degree. To highlight these stories, golf tournament hole signage will display a different "JRLA Future Leader" at each tee-box noting their future plans. JRLA currently ranks third for open enrollment high schools in the City of Detroit for college enrollment and first for college persistence.
