An enormous cup and saucer floated down from the sky, and settled in a field alongside the river. It was home to three firm friends.
MARKET HARBOROUGH, England, Aug. 3, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Jane Marriner wants to increase children's awareness of the environment, conservation and climate change involving animal and human interaction presented in imaginative and comical ways with the release of "The Magic Cup and Saucer" (published by AuthorHouse UK).
The magic cup and saucer carries three animals to the African plains helping animals find scarce water holes in the drought prolonged by climate change, and find sanctuary for a baby elephant. Back home, the animals rescue a beehive from a swollen river caused by the storm and find a temporary home for the waterlogged bees unable to fly. After the storm, the bees are able to pollinate the apple blossom in the orchard again, and in the autumn, a celebratory party is held with honey tarts, ice cream, and apple crumble.
An excerpt from the book reads:
Their cup and saucer was a magic cup and saucer, and could sail through the air, around the globe to wherever the three friends chose.
It used no fuel of any kind for travelling, and so did not fill the skies with harmful gases or dirty fumes.
"The humour and imaginative action in this book together with a strong community spirit should attract young readers. The humorous illustrations should also appeal to young readers. It draws attention to climate change, environmental and conservation issues in which children are going to be ever more involved as they grow up," Marriner says. When asked what she wants readers to take away from the book, she answered, "A wish to help with conservation and environmental change and an appreciation of community spirit." About the Author
Jane Marriner studied Art in conjunction with teacher training, and she taught primary age children for some years. She has recently been inspired to combine stories with stylized illustrations to increase children's awareness of the environment, conservation and climate change. All her stories involve animals and humans interacting to combat/avert negative environmental issues, in inventive, albeit comical ways. There is an element of helping those in need, and a strong sense of community spirit. However, she wants children to enjoy reading the stories, and to appreciate the humour in both stories, and illustrations.
