SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Good Eggs, the online market that delivers absurdly fresh groceries, announced today that veteran operations executive John Kuehn has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer.
Kuehn was most recently COO at Plated where he scaled capacity and margin by 3-4x and oversaw their acquisition by Albertson's. He has a track record of building profitable and scalable businesses— at Provide Commerce he scaled operations to support revenue growth from $175M to $1.3B.
At Good Eggs, he will oversee operations, expansion and legal. Kuehn brings a combination of expansion experience, operations improvement and go-to-market expertise to his work of scaling Good Eggs overall operations. He will be accountable for Good Eggs geographic expansion into other West Coast metro markets as well as growing operations in the Bay Area. Having led worldwide logistics for Apple and supply chain readiness for various new product launches, he is no stranger to scaling an increasingly complex and unique supply chain.
"In addition to being a humble, inspiring leader, John's comfort and expertise scaling complicated supply chains across multiple markets is critical to our next phase of growth. He has a proven track record of picking the right iconic companies at the right times and then quickly elevating their customer experience, consistency, and profitability," said Bentley Hall, CEO of Good Eggs. "I am thrilled to have a partner of his caliber join our already successful team at the perfect time."
Earlier this month, Good Eggs inked a deal for a 115,000 square feet warehouse in West Oakland which will triple its real estate portfolio and provide 5 times its capacity in the Bay Area. The new facility is estimated to create 1000+ jobs over the next year. It also recently closed a $50 million funding round led by Benchmark, with Bill Gurley, Benchmark general partner, joining Good Eggs' board of directors. At that time, they announced plans to enter the Southern California market in the next few years. Good Eggs has doubled the number of daily orders over the last year and expanded into San Jose in July of this summer. They have also onboarded over 4500+ new SKUs to create a full grocery solution.
"What I found most compelling about Good Eggs was the opportunity to build a category-defining mission-driven business with high growth potential that consumers and suppliers love," said Kuehn. "Good Eggs is poised for even greater success over the next few years and I am honored to help the company achieve their ambitious goals."
