KELOWNA, B.C., April 30, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A Kelowna storage facility continues to increase its security system using the latest technology. Space Centre Storage has recently upgraded its keypad system to an OpenTech Alliance product, allowing access into its Alcan Road facility in a more secure and reliable manner.
With a built-in camera, better tracking, touchless entry, and an on-screen display providing user-friendly instructions, the new system allows customers to unlock security gates and doors using an app that generates a code via text on their smartphones. Customers can also use the app to make payments on their storage rentals.
"The keypad not only displays more information, but it allows us to see who and how long someone is on our site. We can also get instant notifications sent by text to management when a locker alarm is triggered," Cameron Martyna, Space Centre Storage General Manager, says.
"The new system is a more reliable product and puts the customer's experience first," adds Brett Martyna, Space Centre Storage Special Projects Manager.
"Due to the large size of our business, being able to view our facility's activity remotely allows us to instantly be notified if anything isn't working, so we can fix the issue before inconveniencing customers," he says.
As Western Canada's largest self-storage facility, Space Centre Storage has been keeping up with the times to improve security features and ensure customers have a seamless experience. Other than the keypads, additional security at the facility includes multiple cameras, fence sensors, nightly security guard patrols, BIL video monitoring, door alarms and motion sensors.
"We take security extremely seriously, which is why we chose to be a cashless business," Cameron says. "The recent security upgrades have created a security conscious community at Space Centre. This has significantly helped reduce any criminal activity."
Space Centre Storage has also put in additional safety measures such as touchless contact points, motion sensor light switches and digital signatures in place of paper documents.
