LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz., Dec. 04, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Typically, when summer ends the housing market changes. "Havasu is very different from other places because in the summer it slows down. Towards the end of September and the beginning of October we start getting the winter visitors, which are often referred to as the snowbirds," said Realtor Teri Tobar, of Realty ONE Group Mountain Desert. "This is when the market activity begins picking up and continues through approximately April or May, so right now is the time to start getting your home ready to appeal to these winter visitors."
Since Havasu is a resort town, the majority of people want to buy a winter home to escape the weather in other places. When selling to someone who is a winter visitor, the size of the home and location play a huge part. "There are also some major key points to think of when getting your home ready to sell," added Tobar.
For one, you need to be sure to have a clean curb appeal. This is going to be the first thing that a potential buyer sees, and first impressions are everything. "You also want to be sure to declutter and keep things open and airy," noted Tobar. "Although most people like to use the word 'staging,' I feel that you don't need to professionally stage the home, but rather prepare the home to show its appeal and make potential buyers feel comfortable and at home."
Sellers should also provide potential buyers with a lasting impression by allowing them to see themselves in the home as their own. Depersonalizing is such a strong component when showing buyers one's home.
"During winter, potential buyers purchase these homes as vacation homes. The price range for these homes is generally $200,000-$300,000," concluded Tobar. "This price range is a popular market and that is where the majority of our low inventory originates."
