Lakeside Animal Hospital Is Celebrating The Next Chapter In Its Long History As A New Owner Looks To Put Her Stamp On The Beloved Hospital.
Local veterinarian takes next big step in her career as she takes over the reins of Lakeside Animal Hospital from the Fernandez Family.
PLANTATION, Fla., September 09, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dr. Jennifer Frione, a Florida native is taking the next big step in her career as she takes over the reins of Lakeside Animal Hospital from the Fernandez Family. Lakeside Animal Hospital was initially founded in 1995 by Dr. Monica Fernandez. Dr. Monica Fernandez had devoted her career to making Lakeside Animal Hospital one of the leading primary care veterinary hospitals in South Florida until her passing in 2015. The practice had continued to be owned and operated by her husband, Robert Fernandez.
"It was important to me to find a successor who values our clients and our team and who I have faith will continue to nurture the relationships that Monica had built. I see those qualities in Dr. Frione and have confidence that she will be very successful and will also bring new visions and opportunities under her leadership." said Fernandez.
Dr. Frione is firmly committed to building on Dr. Fernandez's legacy of Practicing Big Medicine in a Family hospital environment. "I have found my place and can't think of a better way to spend my life doing what I love, with a team that feels the same way I do about our patients and clients! I want to follow in Dr. Fernandez's footsteps by providing state-of-the-art medicine and personal attention while upholding the same traditions and values that have been practiced for the last two decades." Frione added
Dr. Frione brings significant experience to the practice. She attended Florida Gulf Coast University where she earned a Bachelor's in Biology. She obtained her DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical year at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Her veterinary interests include shelter medicine, nutrition, preventative care, rehabilitation, and soft tissue surgery. Frione who has always been passionate about animals was inspired to become a veterinarian early in life. Having been raised with a variety of pets, she frequently cared for stray cats in the neighborhood and her neighbor's pets when they traveled out of town.
Prior to the purchase of Lakeside Animal Hospital in May 2019, Dr. Frione had been practicing in Naples, Florida before moving back to the east coast to be closer to her family and has been employed at Lakeside Animal Hospital as a DVM since 2017.
Dr. Frione plans on working to advance the spectrum of care offered by the hospital and to implement more advanced veterinary technology. In addition to bringing a modern perspective to veterinary medicine, Frione believes in the old-fashioned personal approach. "The Hospital will continue to be family owned and operated, I want the clients to have my full attention, and I want to connect with them in some way and make them feel welcome," Frione said. "When examining a dog or cat, I prefer to have the pet's owner present in the examination room for as long as possible, and to discuss all diagnoses and options in detail. This helps to develop a bond of trust between the owner, the pet and myself," added Frione.
"I think what works the best for me is being motivated by setting and achieving goals and filling my practice with people who are cut from the same cloth," adds Dr. Frione. "I have learned that culture is by far the most important component of a business. If you can foster a culture where people feel supported, believe in what they are doing on a daily basis, and love coming to work each day – patients and pet owners all benefit."
While owning a business is a new and sometimes overwhelming experience for Frione, she said the transition has been easy due to the supportive and caring Lakeside Animal Hospital staff she inherited. "The team here is awesome," Frione said. "They really care about the patients and the clients, and they make my life a lot easier. It's just been great all around."
