Laura Doyle's "2025 State of Marriage" survey imparted surprising insights on marital happiness, challenges, and counseling's ineffectiveness while offering hope for struggling relationships.
CORONA DEL MAR, Calif., Feb. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- New York Times author and acclaimed relationship coach Laura Doyle has taken a big swing (in the name of love), releasing the results of a comprehensive industry study on the state of marriage. Doyle's "2025 State of Marriage" study offers illuminating results on long-term relationships, comprehensively evaluating factors impacting marital satisfaction and challenges among women in the US. More than 600 female respondents participated in the survey, sharing their insights on their married life with refreshing earnestness and optimism.
"Since 2022, the global divorce rate has been roughly at 0.18% and increases drastically every single day. I'm on a mission to end world divorce through relationship coaching," said Doyle.
The "2025 State of Marriage" study researched the following metrics: the length of the marriages (less than a year to more than 40 years), the overall marital happiness score (1-10) given by the respondents, reasons given for marital happiness, reasons given for struggling marriages, the effects of counseling (individual and couples) on marriage, and finally, the predictions made by the respondents on their future marital success or failure.
Some highlights from the study:
- 68.7% of women in the survey felt hopeful about their marriage, believing it would improve in the next five years
- 41.9% of women highlighted emotional distance and loneliness as a significant hurdle in their marriage.
- Roughly half of the respondents valued shared experiences highly.
- A combined 86% of those surveyed who had tried traditional couples counseling methods experienced either no improvement or no lasting improvement beyond one year.
After collating the results, Doyle concluded the top five factors contributing to women's marital happiness were feelings of love, emotional support and connection, safety, shared history and memories, and physical affection.
These results align directly with Laura Doyle's relationship coaching centered around the concept of The Six Intimacy Skills™. According to Doyle, these key skills embody having fun, receiving affection, as well as expressing playfulness, gratitude, and desires in your marriage.
Regarding learning how to give and receive intimacy in a marriage, Doyle maintains that she's "...here to serve and support every woman who wants a playful, passionate relationship."
Doyle herself has enjoyed the fruits of her relationship coaching labors in her marriage of 35 years to her husband, John.
"I married a great man who isn't perfect, but he's perfect for me."
That sentiment alone poignantly summarizes what Doyle ultimately discovered in her 2025 survey on the state of marriage. While no union at the outset is perfect, there's still hope for achieving a happy marriage.
