BOULDER, Colo., Nov. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- LogRhythm, the company powering the world's enterprise security operations centers (SOCs), today announced that the chief information security officer and vice president of LogRhythm Labs, James Carder, has received the 2019 APEX award for CISO of the Year from the Colorado Technology Association (CTA).
Since 2001, the APEX Awards have recognized Colorado's technology excellence, highlighting remarkable leaders and innovators. The CISO of the Year award honors innovative security leaders who have implemented a security program that accelerated the success of their Colorado-based business. Utilizing people, processes and technologies, Carder was commended as a security leader who has positioned LogRhythm's security program to deliver on the company's core mission.
"Winning this award is an honor and a privilege, and I am proud to represent the Colorado CISO community. This recognition would not have been possible without the support from the greater LogRhythm family and the diligent work of our security team," said James Carder, CISO and vice president of LogRhythm Labs. "Cybersecurity is constantly evolving, and it's truly a team effort to stay on top of the latest trends and threats. I'm excited to continue working with both the team at LogRhythm and the greater Colorado technology community as we strive to keep our customers, our industry and our community secure."
With over 22 years of experience working in corporate IT security and consulting for the U.S. government and Fortune 500, Carder has helped the world's largest companies proactively fortify their cybersecurity programs, responded to the largest and most public intrusions, and helped organizations recover from massive breaches. Since 2015, Carder has led LogRhythm's security programs, including the design, architecture and implementation of a Zero Trust initiative. In this role, he oversees the company's security governance model and risk strategies, protects the confidentiality and integrity of data, oversees threat and vulnerability management, product security, physical security, the security awareness programs, and the company's security operations center (SOC).
Carder also created a course in cybersecurity at the University of Colorado Denver, to help train the next wave of cybersecurity professionals and alleviate the technology industry's challenge of labor shortage in the coming years. Carder's varied experience throughout his career has provided him with the skills to successfully build LogRhythm's program. "The mission of the business here aligns closely to security — but I can't take that for granted. I'm still applying the lessons learned over the varied experience of my career."
CTA gave prizes to winners and finalists in 11 categories. After individual and company nominations from across the state were submitted, a panel of judges and past APEX Award winner committees selected this year's winners. Winners for all categories were recognized at the APEX Awards event on November 6, 2019 which also celebrated CTA's 25th Anniversary.
