Allison Price, VP of marketing and community, and Wes Wilson, VP of operations, are spearheading OpenInfra Foundation's global efforts to build and grow open infrastructure projects and communities.
AUSTIN, Texas, April 27, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Open Infrastructure Foundation (OpenInfra Foundation) announced today that two longtime staff leaders—Allison Price and Wes Wilson—have been promoted into vice president roles responsible for marketing and community, and operations, respectively. Approved by the OpenInfra Foundation's board of directors, the promotions recognize the invaluable contributions Price and Wilson have made during their tenures and adds additional strength to the executive leadership team as the OpenInfra Foundation enters its second decade of building communities that write open source infrastructure software that runs in production.
"Allison and Wes have each made phenomenal contributions to the OpenInfra Foundation and are highly deserving of this recognition," said Jonathan Bryce, executive director of the OpenInfra Foundation. "As our community continues to thrive and grow, we will all benefit from their elevation to the executive team. Mark Collier, our COO, and Thierry Carrez, our General Manager, join me in congratulating Allison and Wes on their well-deserved promotions, and we look forward to working with them to develop the strategies that will support and expand OpenInfra communities for many more decades to come."
*Allison Price, Vice President of Marketing and Community*
Price drives the foundation's messaging and marketing efforts in support of OpenInfra projects. She previously served as director of marketing and community, in which capacity she was instrumental in guiding the transition from the OpenStack Foundation to the Open Infrastructure Foundation. She is credited for expanding recognition of OpenStack as the most widely deployed open source cloud infrastructure software in the world and is also largely responsible for the growing awareness of the LOKI stack (Linux, OpenStack, and Kubernetes Infrastructure), the open source standard for running modern cloud infrastructure.
In her role as vice president of marketing and community, Price leads a team of marketing experts to advance the messaging and goals of the foundation, with an emphasis on building trust, collaboration and camaraderie within the global OpenInfra community. Her priorities include elevating OpenInfra projects as leading projects within the open source ecosystem and making the OpenInfra Foundation known in the global community as a hosting home where open source projects go to become successful.
*Wes Wilson, Vice President of Operations*
In his prior role of director of product, Wilson led the development and launch of the OpenInfra Foundation's framework for hosting open source projects, Project Funds. This model—based on learnings from successful projects such as OpenStack, Kata Containers and StarlingX—enables organizations to invest directly in the projects they care most about, receive project management support from the OpenInfra Foundation, and ultimately deliver impact and returns for the entire ecosystem.
In his role as vice president of operations, Wilson oversees product, web, design, the OpenInfra brand and trademarks, and engineering functions. He will spearhead the onboarding of new open source infrastructure projects to the foundation through Project Funds, ensure that OpenInfra member organizations receive value through the foundation's offerings, and drive operational efficiencies within the foundation to better support OpenInfra communities.
"The OpenInfra Foundation Board of Directors understands the importance of sustainability and we are intentional about building up the executive team and promoting high-performers to support the Foundation and the community for the long term," said Julia Kreger, board chair. "In Allison and Wes, we have two superstars who are incredibly talented and dedicated to our mission. We are excited about how OpenInfra projects and the community as a whole will benefit from their leadership as we all work to build the next decade of OpenInfra."
