Megan Winsor Owns 100% of New Single "Someone Else's Car," and is Setting the Trend for Modern Day Independent Artists
Since the release of her 2017 studio smash "Caught Up," Megan Winsor has spent the past year in the studio writing and recording her first full-length album. On January 11,2019 she dropped her highly anticipated new single "Someone Else's Car," a project she owns 100% of; the new industry trend for independent artists that are tired of waiting around for a YouTube discovery story like Justin Bieber's.
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 4, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- With the internet, social media, and digital distribution options (Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, Apple Music etc.) available to artists (label or not), the music industry is changing and independent artists like Megan Winsor, are becoming more successful and in more control of their projects than ever before.
Someone Else's Car is Winsor's second original commercial single to be independently released, but only the first of four slated to drop in 2019 prior to her full length album "CLWNS," which is queued up for Q4. "Caught Up" and "Someone Else's Car," were both produced by Grammy Award-inning engineer, Phil Allen, who has racked up a long list of notable credits including: Adele's chart-topping, 6X Platinum Best Pop Solo Performance "Someone Like You."
Though she has plenty of "options," Megan has chosen to remain independent for the release of her first studio album. She is backed by the support of her long time artist development partner, Dani Thompson and DNT Entertainment, which is the best of both worlds situation for her project. Her partnership with DNT has given her that "label team," and access to a credible industry network, without signing it all away. Megan retains creative control over her project and 100% ownership of her music without compromising her vision or independent goals.
"15 years ago, owning 100% of your music was unheard of in the industry. The only way to get music out was to sign your life away (or a good chunk of it) to a record label or production team, let the A&R's drive the creative direction of your project, and pray the label or "investor" would see a quick ROI so they would slate you for another radio push rather than putting you on the shelf for 5+ years. With the way the modern day music industry works, if you are talented, driven, and financially willing to invest in yourself, you can have a very successful career in music. You no longer need to wait for the stars to align and for someone to "discover you or develop you." Megan Winsor is an inspiration to all independent artists and music lovers alike. For the release of her first full length album CLWNS, she is committed to hearing her fans speak first. I have been lucky enough to have the first listen, and they will be lucky enough to have the first words."
Dani Thompson (DNT Entertainment)
"I have poured my heart and soul into this project and can't wait to bring this new music to my fans. Though I highly value feedback from industry professionals and label executives, I want to hear how the world responds to this project before I settle into any long term commitments that may slow down the release of new content I am eager to put out into the world. There is no better way to drive the direction of my music then to let the people speak first so i'm starting there." -Megan Winsor
Megan is raising the bar for independent artists and creatives in general.. With pop, rock, alternative, indie, and singer/songwriter influences, it's hard to pigeonhole her into only one set genre. "Popular (Pop) music," may be where she ends up on the charts, however her versatile style would fit nicely on various playlists across multiple genres. Her brutally honest and well-crafted lyrics, passion, and original sound has us "Caught Up" on her.
"Someone Else's Car" has the simple yet powerful hook of a radio hit, yet the depth and intensity of a diary entry that any audience can relate to. Fan feedback is valued and appreciated as it will drive the creative direction of new music moving forward. To listen to this new indie pop hit, you can head over to Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, and all other digital streaming platforms.
