PROVIDENCE, R.I., Aug. 16, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Meller Optics, Inc. has introduced custom engineered sapphire optical domes including a new truncated hyper-hemisphere 360 degree window for protecting vision systems from harsh environments.
Meller Sapphire Optical Domes and 360 Degree Windows feature Mohs 9 hardness, which is second only to diamond, and are highly resistant to fast moving dirt, sand, and saltwater, and can withstand 10,000 psi and 1,000°C. Providing front surface protection for missile guidance systems and panoramic image masts, they exhibit 99% transmission from the UV to IR when A/R coated on both sides and up to 85% transmission uncoated.
Custom fabricated in sizes up to 6" O.D., Meller Sapphire Optical Domes provide 160 degree maximum included angles to extend the viewing angle of missile guidance systems. The Truncated Hyper-hemispheric 360 Degree Windows can be made in sizes up to 12" O.D. with varying wall thicknesses, depending upon the outside diameter. Domes have a 20-10 scratch-dig surface finish per MIL-PRF-13830 and the window has a 40-20 finish.
Meller Sapphire Optical Domes and 360 Degree Windows are priced according to configuration and quantity. Delivery is 12 weeks typical.
