FLORIDA, Dec. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "What if love meant that freedom was found in service, purpose was found in pain, strength was found in suffering, and life was found in death—it would change!" In the latter blurb provided by Mike about his debut book, he perfectly sums up his journey of realizing truths and gaining a deeper understanding of God's love. In Translating Love, Mike accounts an honest telling of his awakening about faith and love.
A Pastor and a Missionary, Mike shares life-giving insights on an eye-opening experience from believing he had everything figured out to realizing there's more to learn about the ironies in life. Based on the numerous conversations he had with Hal Calisch, Mike recounts the journey, the revelations he encountered as he was discovering the truth behind "how to translate love" in various forms and ways.
"The purpose of this book is to encourage those who have ever felt like they have been beaten down by the world, by ministry, or by others," shared Mike. He continued, "This book is for people who may have at one time felt they knew their purpose and mission, and yet the realities of troubles in this world, the culture of comparison, and the spiritual attacks of the devil may have caused them to question whether they truly heard the will of God."
Tackling the topic of having a Great Awakening is not new for Mike. At an early age, he was forged with a strong determination and will from fighting for his own life. He endured the challenges of a skull fracture, blindness, brain cancer, and spinal meningitis, and survived them all. This was when he realized his life is on borrowed time and is to be dedicated in service to Christ through being a pastor. He and his wife Seira, and five children, moved to Japan in 2008 with a vision of intimately introducing Christ to the people of Japan.
In December 2014, he and the community of Liberty Church Kyoto started a fundraising campaign to reach the people of Japan through building a first-century-style church in the city of Kyoto. Their mission was to provide an opportunity for the Japanese to know Jesus Christ and, in a way, transform lives.
Translating Love was written by Mike to share all he had learned. Despite thinking he had life figured out, he realized—and acknowledged—his perspective was actually off. The crux of this awakening is Hal whom he met in Bible study. As one conversation over coffee turned into another, Mike relays how Hal recognized some aspects of his life that were hindering him from moving deeper into his relationship with God.
Beyond the book, Mike and Hal are working together to launch the disciple-making ministry called Translating Love. Mike and his family are now back in the US driving the initiative of gathering disciples from various platforms—from personal relationships to social media communities—for a wider reach.
Translating Love by Mike Wogsland is to be published on March 12, 2019, from Elm Hill, a division of HarperCollins Christian Publishing. The book will be available in eBook, paperback and hardbound versions.
