LOS ANGELES, April 30, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Aspiring esports athletes will have a new location to compete as the result of a new partnership between Southern California-based Ultimate Media Ventures (UMV) and N3rd Street Gamers (NSG), a company focused on cultivating the next generation of esports competitors through its Localhost esports venues, professional-level equipment, and the nation's premier amateur esports pipeline.
NSG will bring its branded Localhost Battleground to Southern California and will open inside of UMV's headquarters at 15241 Transistor Lane in Huntington Beach, CA, in June. It will host competitive gaming events, including solo tournaments, team-based tournaments, and esports boot camps.
NSG plays a key role in the rise of the competitive esports industry by creating opportunities for esports athletes to train and compete by building the physical locations, community, and events that lower the barriers of entry.
Localhost Battleground focuses on high-energy, in-person competition and will host weekly and monthly events as well as tournaments with prize pots starting at $10,000. The venue boasts the same top-tier gaming equipment that has made Localhost one of the fastest growing esports-focused facilities in the U.S.
In Huntington Beach, Localhost Battleground, a 22,000-square-foot space, offers gamers access to gaming PCs and monitors, top-of-the-line peripherals, consoles, gaming chairs, and a wide selection of snacks and drinks. Players competing in tournaments at Localhost Battleground will compete on a dedicated stage positioned inside UMV's headquarters.
The partnership between NSG and UMV is rooted in a similarly aligned vision. Both NSG and UMV embrace a mission that is focused on the player's journey. UMV is a specialized gaming lifestyle company focused on advancing the culture of esports through strategy, marketing, merchandising, and production services. ULT, the consumer product arm of UMV, creates premium goods for gaming and esports lifestyle. NSG champions aspiring esports athletes with thousands of open competitions while promoting an ethos of "esports for everyone."
"We are excited to keep pushing and innovating our esports and gaming communities by bringing them activations and experiences with our partner, N3rd Street Gamers," said Jon Bukosky, CEO & Founder of UMV. "The 'Battleground' concept is the first of many collaborations between our two companies you will see rolling out across North America in 2019 and 2020."
Localhost Battleground will be the West Coast destination for tournaments in the National Championship Series (NCS), the competitive esports circuit architected by NSG.
The NCS is designed to elevate the aspiring esports athlete and works as a bridge between the amateur and professional esports environments. NCS competitions incorporate multiple game titles such as CS:GO, Overwatch, and Starcraft 2. They are produced across the country by NSG and their partners in Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., Chicago, Denver, Arlington, TX, and now Huntington Beach, CA.
Tournaments at Localhost Battleground inside of UMV in Huntington Beach, CA will occur throughout the summer and will culminate with an NCS Major competition for the game title Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on September 13. Another NCS Major tournament, featuring Overwatch, will occur at Localhost Battleground on September 20.
Players compete in NCS tournaments to hone their skills, raise their profile to a national level, and position themselves for possible college scholarships or career positions in the ever-growing esports industry.
"Bringing Localhost to Southern California allows us to produce more frequent events for the National Championship Series and extends our reach to the West Coast," said Ryan Barr, Chief Operating Officer at NSG and Commissioner of the NCS. "Localhost Battleground at Ultimate Media Ventures will allow us to host more recurring, standardized opportunities for players to earn NCS points, prizes, and support for travel to our competitions."
The Southern California Localhost is NSG's third location. NSG launched its first Localhost esports and gaming venue in its hometown of Philadelphia, PA, in 2017, and expanded to establish its flagship, 18,000-square-foot Localhost Arena in Lakewood, CO, in December of 2018. NSG plans to open additional Localhost locations in 2019.
