BOSTON, Jan. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, Package Concierge®, is sharing new data showing what matters most to renters right now. Coming out of a turbulent year, the trusted provider of automated locker solutions for the modern world surveyed over 2,000 renters on priorities for amenities and apartment searching in a time that is anything but business as usual.
The comprehensive study shows that in the past year, over half of renters have changed the way they prioritize amenities, with one quarter saying it has changed significantly. Package management systems are considered one of the most important amenities by about one in five respondents, with other top categories including smart home devices (such as temperature control and digital locks), gym and recreation sport facilities, outdoor kitchen and dining areas and pet services. And they're not just nice-to-haves; 91 percent of those who have actively been searching for a new apartment say that amenities will play a factor in their apartment search.
"Last year, people spent more time in their homes than ever before, so finding a place to live that incorporates critical amenities is top of mind for everyone in 2021," said Donna Logback, Head of Marketing for Package Concierge. "Renters have grown to expect secure and convenient package management solutions like smart package lockers and access controlled package rooms as a critical must-have amenity when deciding on a place to live."
When it comes to package management, the Package Concierge survey shows:
One-third of renters live at a property that has changed and/or upgraded the way they handle packages since the start of the pandemic (i.e. half say new technologies and systems were deployed and 25 percent say more staff was hired)
One in five respondents are not happy with the way their property handles package management, reasons include:
- Disorganization (23 percent)
- Lost packages (19 percent)
- Delay in retrieval of packages (18 percent)
- Lack of social distancing / safety measures (16 percent)
- Lag time in delivery notifications (15 percent)
"Of the issues that renters are citing with their current package management solution, a comprehensive package locker and room system solves for every single one," added Logback. "Our solutions are customized to each and every property so we can help address specific pain points as needed."
As demand grew for taming the package chaos in 2020, Package Concierge's smart lockers and package rooms are now being used at over 2,000 locations nationwide, with more than half a million users. Package Concierge saw annual package volume increase 27 percent year over year in 2020 in multifamily communities, and averaged 800,000 package transactions per week during the holiday season.
