BOSTON, Oct. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Northeast Energy and Commerce Association (NECA) will hold its 5th Annual Market Movers Awards Night tonight, October 17, 2018 in Boston's Innovation District to honor the team at BlueWave Solar. BlueWave Co-founder and Chairman, John DeVillars, will be there with other BlueWave representatives to accept NECA's 2018 Innovation Award.
NECA is New England's oldest and most broadly-based, non-profit trade association serving the competitive electric power industry. Every year the Innovation Award is presented to individuals, companies, or project teams who have introduced transformational business models, technologies or policy solutions that have advanced or strengthened the energy industry in the Northeast. Past awardees have included the Block Island Wind Farm Project, Jason Hanna from Greentech Lab, Steven Cowell from E4theFuture, and Phil Giudice from Ambri.
"We are thrilled to be honoring BlueWave Solar as this year's awardee," NECA President Joe Dalton said. "BlueWave Solar exemplifies the leadership, innovation and community that has helped to evolve the energy industry. I am very proud to be honoring their outstanding achievements."
BlueWave Solar is a pioneer of community solar in Massachusetts, having developed the first two community solar projects in New England and more than 135 MW of solar projects in Massachusetts alone. BlueWave continues to innovate as a solar developer including working with the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources exploring "dual-use projects" in Massachusetts, which enable agricultural productivity and solar energy to coexist on farmland. To expand solar access to homeowners throughout the country, BlueWave also now offers innovative loan financing for residential rooftop solar systems.
"Innovation is at the core of everything we do here at BlueWave," said John DeVillars. "We are always looking for new ways to address complex problems, and to collaborate with our partners and customers to deliver powerful solutions. From project development to community solar access to residential solar loans, we've brought together the technology, experience, and ideas needed to serve a growing industry. Most importantly, we have the people, both our employees and our partners, who can make these innovative ideas a reality. Our innovation is only as good as our execution, and we're thrilled that we and our partners have been recognized by NECA for doing the job right."
Speakers at the NECA Annual Awards Night will also include Judith Judson, Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, and Alistair Pim, Vice President of Innovation & Partnerships with Northeast Clean Energy Council (NECEC).
BlueWave is also a finalist for Clean Energy Company of the Year at NECEC's 11th Annual Green Tie Gala on October 25, and has been recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in Boston by Boston Business Journal, and listed on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in the U.S. two years in a row.
