PadSplit closes out 2020 with nine metro-Atlanta nonprofits in its Starting Point program, providing housing options for organizations that serve vulnerable populations
Partnership program allows communities to provide affordable housing more easily for those who need it most
ATLANTA, Dec. 23, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- PadSplit, a mission-driven startup that helps solve the affordable housing crisis, launched a new partnership program in 2020 that helps communities more easily offer affordable housing to the local residents who need it most. Called Starting Point, the initiative is geared toward nonprofit and government agencies that serve vulnerable populations. Organizations that are currently a part of the program include Salvation Army, Atlanta Public Schools, HousingPlus Inc, Project Community Connections, Inc. (PCCI), Giving Kitchen, Fulton County's Pre-Arrest Diversion, Gwinnett Housing Authority, Hope ATL, and First Step Staffing.
Throughout 2020, partner organizations received dedicated PadSplit rooms to serve their clients or employees. In turn, PadSplit waived certain fees and offered a streamlined process for each organization's clients. As a result of this new partnership program, nonprofits and government agencies were able to more quickly identify available housing opportunities and save on housing placement costs.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Atlanta, PadSplit provides shared housing -- a "PadSplit" -- with private bedrooms and fixed utility costs, so members can enjoy safe, clean, and affordable housing. PadSplit members average $25,000 in annual income and report $516 in monthly savings between housing, utility, and transportation costs. Each PadSplit home must meet specific design guidelines designed to exceed HUD standards, while members must pass a criminal background check and screening process to qualify. PadSplit's mission is to leverage housing as a vehicle for financial independence.
In addition to its partnership initiatives with local nonprofits, PadSplit collaborates with civic-minded organizations to provide benefits that go beyond housing alone. These partners include First Step Staffing (job placement), Teladoc (24/7 tele-health), and Esusu (credit building). PadSplit also continues to work with the UCBerkeley HousingLab on affordable housing issues on a national level.
As a result of PadSplit's growth, the company estimates that it's able to keep hundreds of individuals from homelessness. Many PadSplit members have been able to purchase their own vehicles, build their credit histories, move into their own apartments and even buy their own homes and rent them out as PadSplits.
