Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) June 30, 2015 -- Gary Bruce was recently invited to be a participant on the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute (GTMI) review team as an external industry expert. The day and half long event allowed for the team to review information and provide an assessment on the effectiveness of the GTMI in meeting overall expectations regarding research coordination, thought leadership and service to the faculty in the area of manufacturing.
The review, conducted every five years, is extensive in assessing how well faculty needs are met, the needs of research–funding and facilitation, management of external relationships, interaction with schools, promotion of thought-leadership, and even how space is used functionally to support the mission of the institute.
According to Georgia Tech, the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute serves as a hub where top researchers and thought leaders from a variety of disciplines that shape manufacturing come together to define and solve challenges faced in U.S. industry.
GTMI works to advance manufacturing innovation so that research and development move from laboratory to factory floor to sales channel. GTMI is helping develop the next generation of manufacturers. In addition, they are helping manufacturers gain greater efficiencies with new technology and ensuring that the U.S. remains an economic powerhouse.
Earlier this year PartnerTech was awarded the Movers & Makers Manufacturer of the Year award by Partnership Gwinnett. This recognition was based in part upon innovation and engineering expertise resulting in greater efficiency and the notable economic impact felt through workforce expansion, both areas directly related to the mission of GTMI.
Bruce states, “The work accomplished through GTMI is significant in advancing manufacturing through innovation, research and developing the human capital that ultimately drives the industry. The U.S. manufacturing industry is experiencing a lift that can be credited to a large degree to the quality workforce and innovative environment found in the U.S. GTMI is an important organization ensuring that U.S. manufacturing, a critical component in our overall economy, continues to grow. It is an honor to serve this organization”.
