COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., August 21, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- RE/MAX Properties Inc. REALTOR® Pamela Orr is spearheading a donation drive from September 1 to October 31 for The Men's Xchange, a premier men's thrift boutique whose mission is to help disadvantaged men present themselves in a productive and professional manner to allow them to enter the job market and improve their ability to provide for themselves and their families.
Orr is collecting men's business and dress apparel, including suits, jackets, nice slacks, and shirts. Items can be dropped off at 1740 Chapel Hill Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80920. She will also be accepting monetary donations.
"I feel that the service that the Men's Xchange provides is much needed in Colorado Springs. James Proby, CEO of The Men's Xchange, provides quality low-cost clothing for young men and adults who don't have the clothing required for more formal occasions. By supporting this local business it allows James to provide free business attire for low or no income individuals trying to get back into the job market," said Orr. "This seems like a perfect opportunity for my clients that are buying or selling a home, who may be decluttering their closets."
The Men's Xchange is a social enterprise that sells thrift men's business and dress clothes exclusively, with all profits going to helping men evolve. It creates a sustainable revenue stream to fund programmatic mentoring, professional appearance services and peer programming that address men's issues in a connective and intellectually engaging way.
Orr was inspired to support The Men's Xchange after one of her son's rugby teammate's mother died. She reached out to the organization to see if they would dress the teenagers and young adults for the funeral services, which the Men's Xchange was able to do.. She continually refers clients to this location for men that have an occasion, but do not normally wear suits; holiday functions, job interviews, high school dances, or just want to feel confident in themselves.
"Pamela has been an amazing advocate for us in this community," stated Proby. "We accept donations of men's business and dress apparel, then we have all of those items dry cleaned before we set them out to sell in our retail shop. We sell all items for $40 or less! This means anyone can purchase a suit for $40, a sport jacket for $25, and they can purchase dress shirts or slacks for $10. We also provide full measurements for every man that comes through our shop to help provide the best fit possible."
For every nine men that purchase clothing with The Men's Xchange, they are able to dress one man in the community at no cost. Those men are referred to the organization from the Springs Rescue Mission, Reach Pikes Peak, The Pikes Peak, Workforce Center and a host of other nonprofit agencies."The more that people shop, the more men I am able to help," concluded Proby.
