Real World Treasure Hunt Announced - Gold, Silver, and Jewels Out There For the Taking
With a treasure estimated to be worth somewhere between $10,000.00 and $20,000.00, the Wonderland Treasure Hunt aims to get people away from the television screens and back out into nature.
SAN DIEGO, Nov. 6, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Somewhere in the United States of America, tucked in the corner of a brown wooden treasure box, a golden key is hidden. Inside the treasure box, there is a secret message, written on the back of a hundred dollar bill. If you can find the key and reveal the secret message, a real world treasure awaits you. No - this isn't a remake of the movie Goonies. This is the story of The Wonderland Treasure Hunt.
"I filled a wonderful old wooden treasure chest up with all kinds of valuables," says treasure hunt creator, David Jacobsen. "It's a beautiful site. There are over 140 diamonds, rubies, sapphires, silver, gold, rare collectible coins dating back to the 3rd century of the Roman Empire, a 24 karat gold plated bracelet, and more. If you can find the golden key, you can have the treasure chest."
There's only one catch: "finding the chest, won't be easy," says Jacobsen. But it certainly won't be impossible. "During these crazy times, I wanted to give people a reason to turn off the television sets and get back out into nature. I wanted to create an adventure. There are clues and hints in my book, 'The Hatter's Hat - Lost Tales of Wonderland,' which will lead you straight to the golden key. Whoever finds that golden key can claim the treasure."
Everything you need to find the treasure chest is in Jacobsen's book, "The Hatter's Hat," prequel to "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," by Lewis Carroll. "The book is written in the style of Lewis Carroll," says Jacobsen. "I didn't just want to create an ordinary book. I wanted to create something unique. The treasure hunt was created in part to help promote the book. But the book was also created as an excuse for the treasure hunt. I wanted to do something fun. I wanted to create an immersive real-world experience."
Inspired by other book-based treasure hunts, such as "The Thrill of the Chase," "Masquerade," and "The Secret," "The Hatter's Hat" is an armchair, boots on the ground style treasure hunt. Readers can search the book for clues, which according to Jacobsen, will lead straight to the golden key. "If you can figure out the clues, you can find the golden key. The first person to solve the clues and find that golden key will claim title to the treasure."
When asked about the value of the treasure, Jacobsen said the following: "It can be difficult to put a precise value on such things. I don't claim to know the exact value of the treasure chest, and of course the value of gold and silver, in particular, are changing day by day, but I've heard estimates in the ballpark of over $15,000.00 based on the original value of the booty contained within it. One thing's for sure: you're going to have a good day if you find that chest, and depending on your circumstances, you may even have a good year."
More information about the book and about the treasure hunt can be found on the official Wonderland Treasure Hunt website. The Hatter's Hat e-book, which you will need to discover the clues, is available for purchase on the Amazon.com webpage, and a paperback version is available on the Wonderland Treasure website.
