LOS ANGELES, April 25, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dr. Yasmin Davidds, transformational leadership expert, author, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and CEO of the globally-known Dr. Yasmin Davidds Leadership Institute and Founder of the Multicultural Women Executive Leadership Foundation, captured the attention of Lifetime Channel's nationally syndicated television show, "The Balancing Act," hosted by Montel Williams, for the impact her leadership programs are having on women throughout the world.
Dr. Davidds was invited to discuss the meaningful work of transformational women leadership. Davidds will discuss how her programs enable women of diverse backgrounds to realize their full potential as authentic leaders who have a positive impact on others through their life and work. Graduates will share how the program challenged them to reflect on their leadership, their humanity, their values, and their purpose in life and how their lives were transformed.
Dr. Davidds teaches that one's life story is one's leadership story. Davidds states: "Until one is fully able to embrace and begin healing their past, they will never begin the inner journey of truly knowing themselves which is a prerequisite to the great outer journey of leading others. I graciously challenge women to make this journey, both achieving their full potential and having a lasting positive impact on society. The hardest person you will ever have to lead is yourself. Many people do not know who they are. They are so focused on trying to impress others, they allow the world to shape them rather than shaping themselves into the kind of leaders they want to be. Although competencies such as leadership style and communication skills are important, and we do cover them in our program, what the competency-based models missed is the importance of character, which is our sweet spot. While your title makes you a manager, your character makes you a leader."
The Institute was selected to be featured from among many organizations for this national feature segment. This will air at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 29 on KCOP-My Network with an encore at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 30 on KCAL-TV. The segment will then be shown in national syndication across ABC, CBS, Fox, and Lifetime stations.
In 2013, Davidds created The Dr. Yasmin Davidds Leadership Institute, a global organization that has served 5,000 women from over 35 countries. Through its flagship virtual program, its mission is to mobilize the transformation of women leaders and entrepreneurs as influential change agents, inspiring and strengthening the alignment between their organization's business initiatives and social responsibility participation. The Multicultural Women Executive Leadership Foundation is a nonprofit organization that offers scholarships for leadership and entrepreneurship training and development for multicultural women. The Institute, in partnership with the foundation, offers scholarship opportunities to women who require support to participate in the programs.
Davidds created her institute's program based on a need she recognized in her experiences consulting women, as well as organizations worldwide.
"When I worked with women internally in organizations, there wasn't a safe space for them to express themselves and the obstacles they confronted," she explained. "There wasn't psychological safety in their environment, so I decided to create that safe space and have the organizations send women to our institute. We have partnered with organizations throughout the globe that recognize and value the impact of leadership development and their most important resource, humans. Together we are building a road to progress and change."
For those watching this segment, Davidds wants audiences to understand that this virtually-based leadership program has been selected for its impact and is available to women at a global level.
"My hope is that professional women and organizational decision-makers become aware that there is another type of leadership institute that offers programming which speaks to the core of the human experience of being a leader and doesn't separate the leader from the human. Instead, it focuses on the humanity of the leader, garnering strength from the resiliency of the leader's own life story," she said.
