Representative for the Residential Assisted Living National Association to Participate in FGI Experts Meeting in April 2019
Facility Guidelines Institute has invited the Residential Assisted Living National Association legal expert, Michelle Pinkowski, to participate in the First Meeting of the Committee of Experts in preparation for the 2022 FGI Guidelines.
DENVER, Feb. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Facility Guidelines Institute has invited Residential Assisted Living National Association legal expert, Michelle Pinkowski, to participate in the inaugural meeting of the Committee of Experts in preparation for the 2022 FGI Guidelines.
The is an independent organization dedicated to developing guidance for the planning, design, and construction of hospitals, residential care, and support facilities, and oversees the development of safe, effective health and residential care environments.
Ms. Pinkowski, an attorney specializing in assisted living law, has been educating state health departments and local governments on the unique construction needs of non-institutional assisted living facilities. "Many states are simply adopting the FGI guidelines for assisted living without realizing that those guidelines have evolved from the FGI's original hospital construction focus." These guidelines were intended for large hospital-like facilities, and not the approximately 10,000 residential assisted living facilities across the U.S. with 25 people or less.
Doug Erikson, Executive Director of FGI commended Ms. Pinkowski for her contribution to the national discussion while visiting the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. At the meeting, Mr. Erikson invited Ms. Pinkowski to attend the inaugural meeting of the Committee of Experts in April to begin developing the 2022 FGI Guidelines.
