DrugNews Alerts of Rise in Lawsuits Alleging NuvaRing Blood Clots
Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) August 31, 2013 -- The birth control safety advocates at DrugNews.net are announcing updated information for women using the contraceptive NuvaRing. Recent court records show the number of claims from patients alleging blood clot injuries from the device has risen slightly in the past month*.
The DrugNews resource center provides the latest warnings, recalls, studies and legal news to patients using popular prescription drugs and devices. Visitors can see if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.
The resource center has discovered reports linking vaginal ring contraceptives like NuvaRing to higher blood clot rates than traditional birth control pills. Last year, the British Medical Journal published a study suggesting patients’ blood clot risks could be 6.5 times higher**.
Due to the number of women who have filed a NuvaRing lawsuit alleging blood clots, cases have been consolidated in a special federal court in Missouri. The formal case is known as In re: NuvaRing Products Liability Litigation, No. 08-md-1964, JPML, Eastern District Missouri.
Now, DrugNews has learned that the latest report from the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict litigation shows the number of claims filed has increased from 1,296 on July 10th to 1,358 on August 15th, an increase of nearly 5%*. U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel recently scheduled the first trial to start on January 27th***.
Anyone who suffered a blood clot, stroke, DVT or pulmonary embolism after using NuvaRing is urged to contact the DrugNews Resource Center or speak with a lawyer about their legal rights.
Due to the specialized nature of federal MDL drug injury cases, DrugNews only recommends lawyers and law firms who have already handled NuvaRing lawsuits.
