NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas, Dec. 9, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Burley Auction Gallery will be holding a live public auction of Historic Texana items, featuring documents, antiques and historic firearms. The auction will take place Saturday, December 12, beginning at 10:00 a.m. CST at the Burley Auction Gallery, 134 Deborah Dr., New Braunfels, Texas.
In addition to Gus McCrae's Colt Walker prop gun used by Robert Duvall in Lonesome Dove, other Lonesome Dove items include a cast chair cover, cast script cover, and a copy of the book "Lonesome Dove" signed by over 100 Texas Rangers.
Other items include:
- 1841 Republic of Texas Arrowsmith map.
- Republic of Texas money.
- Alamo battlefield relics.
- Rare Colt Texas Patterson revolver.
- Rare Colt Walker Civilian Model 1847.

Also up for bid are several Texas Ranger items, including guns and badges from John Aycock, the only Texas Ranger to win the Medal of Valor twice; the badge belt and gun of Texas Ranger Ray Martinez, who as an Austin police officer took out the UT tower shooter in Austin; and the badge and .45s of the first African American Texas Ranger Captain, Ranger Chief Earl Pearson.
Robb Burley, owner of the well-known Texas-based auction house that specializes in Western Americana and Texana, emphasized that due to COVID-19 crowd size restrictions, seating will be spread out to promote social distancing for those attending the live event. Masks and hand sanitizer will also be available.
"Those unable to attend can utilize live internet bidding available through icollector.com, or through phone and absentee bidding," said Burley. "We want to make these items available to everyone."
A pre-auction public viewing will be held Friday, December 11, from noon to 6:00 p.m., and the morning of the auction from 8:00-10:00 a.m.
Other historic Texas relics include an 18th Century cannon dredged up in Galveston Bay in the 1930s, the final large collection of Alamo Battlefield relics from the 2008 excavation, original Texas art, Coca Cola signs, Sinclair gas pump globes, coin-op pony ride, and much more.
