The head planters are available at HomeGoods, showcasing Black representation through horticulture, art and tech.
SAN DIEGO , Aug. 24, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- How you fill a flower pot has new cultural significance when in the artful hands of Rooted Pots, designers of Afrocentric head planters uniquely paying tribute to Black hair, culture and history. Each creation's distinct, elegant features raise awareness of Black heritage in every detail. The head busts represent the natural hair of Black people through horticulture once a plant is inserted in the pots.
With this stunning collection, Rooted Pots achieved a tremendous feat by offering its 3D printed planters in a major retailer, once considered an impossible task that the brand accomplished over a year ago. HomeGoods, a off-price retailer, is known for sourcing various home accessories for different design styles. The Rooted Pots collections arrived on its store shelves to the delight of home décor enthusiasts who have long sought to see themselves represented in art and accessories.
"Rooted Pots being sold in HomeGoods is a very large step not just for Rooted Pots being an Afrocentric brand, but also because we're the first fully 3D printed product to be sold in a major retailer in the U.S.," said founder Yinka Alade, an award-winning art director that has worked on projects like Disney's Moana, Spiderman, The Sims 4, and is currently an Art Director at Electronic Arts on the Madden NFL video games.
Each Rooted Pots figure is a unique collaborative art piece between the consumer and Alade, where styles are always original. Alade notes he has yet to see any two people decorate a pot the same from the thousands currently sold. The beauty of the handcrafted collection is enhanced by allowing the buyer to enhance each pot, such as Onileola, with earrings, nose rings and necklaces to expand their artistic expression and beautifully accentuate the chosen plant inserted on top to represent natural hair through horticulture.
The DIY option (sold online only) is primed and ready for painting to fully represent individuality, color and diversity, much-needed in the horticulture community.
It is no surprise that the pandemic saw a rise in indoor plants. Plants have a calming effect while providing a decorative accent to homes and workspaces. Rooted Pots offers multiple sizes and colors in its collection to meet the needs of plant lovers. It encourages people to design a planter that exhibits their cultural identity, placed in a stress-free environment for years of enjoyment and a creative outlet that is uniquely their own.
Using traditional art methods and digital technology, the line is created using durable, eco-friendly and biodegradable Polylactide PLA, which is not as fragile as conventional terracotta and ceramics.
