The Rotary Club of Southern Frederick County hosted its first annual golf tournament on Monday, 5/8/23, and raised $7000 for the "What Would Stew Dew?" Fund.
URBANA, Md., May 15, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Rotary Club of Southern Frederick County hosted its first annual golf tournament on Monday, 5/8/23, and raised $7000 for the "What Would Stew Dew?" Fund, which is a component fund of The Community Foundation of Frederick County, a 501(c)(3) public charity. The memorial fund and its initiatives support first responders and their families, as well as advocates for children in need.
The event was held at Whiskey Creek Golf Club and was a huge success, with the local community coming out in droves to support the cause. The Rotary Club of Southern Frederick County was thrilled to partner with the "What Would Stew Dew?" fund, an organization that shares their mission of making a positive impact in the community.

The Service Above Self Golf Tournament was organized after Jennifer Alcorn shared the fund's mission and inspiring stories of her late husband's generous heart during a weekly club meeting. Moved by her presentation, The Rotary Club of Southern Frederick County rallied around her and made the event a reality.

The "What Would Stew Dew?" fund was created to honor Lt. Andrew "Stew" Alcorn, who served the Frederick, MD police department for more than 13 years. Stew unexpectedly passed away in the summer of 2021. To honor her late husband, Jennifer Alcorn founded the 'What Would Stew Dew Fund'.
