SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- An esteemed Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr. Evan Ransom is Director of the San Francisco Center for Facial Plastic, Reconstructive & Laser Surgery, with a personal philosophy of preserving the unique identity of patients. As such, Dr. Ransom performs an array of facial cosmetic surgery and non-surgical cosmetic and reconstructive procedures for men and women, including functional surgeries and hair transplantation. Subsequently, Dr. Ransom dedicates time to volunteer medical education and performing pro bono reconstructive procedures at home through charitable organizations and programs such as Face-to-Face, Faces of Honor and Operation Access.
Given his understanding of the social stigma and developmental concerns associated with babies and children born with facial defects and congenital anomalies, Dr. Ransom is a long-time volunteer for the non-profit organization, Healing The Children (HTC). Thus, he founded the Northern California Chapter of HTC, and will serve as the lead surgeon of a volunteer medical team during an upcoming annual medical mission to Ica, Peru from April 5-13. The select surgical team includes his colleagues and facial plastic surgeons Dr. Joseph Rousso of New York and Dr. Benjamin Stong of Atlanta. The team is expected to perform up to 100 pro bono cleft palate and cleft lip surgeries for children that do not have access or funds for specialized medical care.
"There's no question that correcting facial defects can change the trajectory of children's lives, and my peers and I consider it a privilege to support the mission of Healing The Children in Ica, Peru," says Dr. Evan Ransom, Director of HTC Northern California.
Healing the Children focuses single-mindedly on helping underserved children secure the urgent medical care that they need. To date, the non-profit organization has made a difference in the lives of approximately 250,000 children in over 95 countries. Comprised of 16 chapters and international partners, HTC's work is made possible by volunteer medical teams and staff, many of which donate personal vacation time and pay their own expenses to travel and serve children in need.
