Exponential Growth Leads Tuxedos & Tennis Shoes Catering & Events to Rebrand as DSquared Company
SEATTLE, Wash. (PRWEB) September 28, 2016 -- After 30 years of being known as “Tuxedos and Tennis Shoes Catering & Events,” co-owners David and Meg Haggerty and David Meckstroth are rebranding their upstart catering business into the culinary services company that they and their employees have built: A DSquared Company.
With the recent additions of venue Benaroya Hall and its two restaurants, Muse and Davids & Co., as well as event space Melrose Market Studios, the team brought on Maureen “Mo” Aylward Shaw, former GM of Ray’s Boathouse, as Chief Operating Officer to navigate the expansion.
“We started this business wearing tuxedos from our former fine dining days paired with red Chuck Taylors,” said David Haggerty. “Now that we’re expanding into more exclusive venues and restaurants, Mo’s leadership and guidance will enhance our already extraordinary team in creating ‘Occasions with Soul.’”
Serving is where the Davids got their start, so the company’s “guest first” attitude is at the core of what they do, from catering to Millennials’ high food knowledge to welcoming LGBTQ wedding clients to offering “party chefs” who interact with the crowd while finishing off a dish.
“The catering scene has changed dramatically over the years, and people’s tastes continue to evolve, so we’re always coming up with a new twist, flavor profile, or creative offering,” said Meckstroth. “Our poke bar is really popular as are the Korean flavors of our Beef Bulgogi. We make everything from scratch, too, including our desserts.”
In addition to creative bites that aren’t your typical catered fare, Meg Haggerty attributes their decades of success to their dedicated employees and involvement in their community. Each year, employees and their families—many who have been with the company for 10 years or more—volunteer to host a free, sit-down Thanksgiving Dinner at the Hall at Fauntleroy, and any donations made benefit the West Seattle Helpline.
“The spirit of giving and community are the ‘heart’ for all of us at DSquared,” said Meg Haggerty. “We’re really one big family. Our four children grew up in the company, and now our son Reed Haggerty continues to build this culture as the Operations Manager by rallying the whole team every day for the morning huddle.”
