Space Walk Acquires Nashville Bounce House, Dominates Tennessee Inflatable Rentals
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) April 09, 2015 -- Space Walk, the nation's largest inflatable rental company, recently acquired Grand Central Bounce House, the premier inflatable rental company in Nashville, Tenn.
According to Mials Scurlock, CEO of Space Walk, the acquisition adds more than 100 items to the company, raising its investments in 12 Tennessee locations to nearly $1.2 million. Space Walk operates stores in more than 200 communities nationwide, offers more than 4,000 items for rent and services more than 30,000 events a year.
"We are absolutely thrilled with this acquisition," said Dave Sells, Owner and Operator of Space Walk of Middle Tennessee. "Space Walk is America's leader in inflatable fun, and it will be very exciting to use this acquisition to enhance what already is the best selection of inflatables and customer service throughout middle Tennessee."
Inflatables are ideal for activities such as birthday parties, celebrations, outdoor occasions and graduations. Safety is paramount at Space Walk of Middle Tennessee, which is fully licensed, insured and carries $3 million in liability coverage. The facility also provides the full range of personal professional maintenance and hands-on repair.
Space Walk of Middle Tennessee services Nashville, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Brentwood, Green Hills, Manchester, Shelbyville and surrounding areas.
The themed bounce houses and combos acquired by Space Walk include Pirates of the Caribbean, Frozen, Shrek, Scooby Doo, Sponge Bob, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Winnie the Pooh.
Other available themed inflatables include Tinker Bell, World of Disney, Noah's Ark and Titan’s themed Jump and Slide Combo. Rounding out the list are Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Incredible Cars, Dora the Explorer, Batman, Justice League and Madagascar.
In addition to these, Space Walk also acquired a 4-station Euro/Power Mobile bungee unit from Balloon Media Inc., further enhancing its inventory of extreme interactive games.
In the 1950s, the late John Scurlock was a local engineering professor and plastics specialist who worked for NASA and taught at Tulane University in New Orleans. He then invented the first inflatable bounce house, the "Space Pillow," and in 1958 founded Space Walk Inc.
In 1968, the Scurlocks began renting out their inflatable items for individual events, and then began to manufacture and sell what inflatable enthusiasts know today as Bounce House, Moonwalks or Bouncy Castles. Along the way, John Scurlock also invented the Space Walk safety air cushion—subsequently used by Hollywood stuntmen and fire brigades in the event of high-rise fires.
Space Walk is headquartered at 450 31st Street, Kenner, LA 70065.
