Sustainable Investing Firm Ethic Adds Founding Partner of Generation Investment Management to Advisory Board
Industry luminary to help further mission-driven growth initiatives
NEW YORK, Feb. 13, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ethic Inc ("Ethic"), the tech-driven asset management platform that powers sustainable solutions for wealth advisors and institutional investors, today announced the addition of Peter S. Knight, a founding partner of Generation Investment Management, to its advisory board.
Knight founded Generation Investment Management ("Generation") with his partners, former Vice President Al Gore and former Goldman Sachs Asset Management CEO David Blood, in 2004, and served as its president until his retirement in 2017. During his tenure with Generation, Knight oversaw the firm's U.S. business and played a vital role in establishing its position as a global sustainable investing leader with assets under management totaling more than $18 billion. Prior to founding Generation, Knight was a managing director of Met West Financial, a California-based asset management company.
"Peter's work has been instrumental in the advancement of sustainable investing, and we're delighted to welcome him into the Ethic family and to our advisory board," said Doug Scott, Ethic's co-founder and CEO. "Generation Investment Management are widely recognized as pioneers in allocating capital to businesses that advance positive environmental and social outcomes. We're very excited to have Peter support and guide us in our mission to accelerate the global transition to sustainable investing."
Knight also brings a wealth of political and legal experience, having previously served as the chief of staff to Representative and later Senator Al Gore, as general counsel of Medicis Pharmaceutical, and in senior positions on four presidential campaigns. Additionally, Knight represented numerous Fortune 500 companies as named partner in a Washington D.C. law firm. He holds a J.D. from Georgetown University and a B.A. from Cornell University.
In his capacity as a strategic advisor, Knight will provide key guidance regarding Ethic's solutions for investment advisors. He joins a cadre of accomplished sustainable and institutional investing leaders that currently serve as trusted advisors to Ethic's executive team, helping to identify and capitalize on opportunities for impact, growth, investment and product development.
Knight added: "Ethic's vision for a more sustainable future aligns strongly with my own. I'm looking forward to working with this talented team as they work to unlock the potential of capital markets to address some of the most pressing issues of our time."
This latest announcement from Ethic comes on the heels of a recent capital raise that saw the firm receive funding from leading institutional finance and impact-led venture capital firms such as ThirdStream Partners, Nyca Partners, Kapor Capital and the Urban Innovation Fund.
