The Hershel "Woody" Williams MOH Foundation and the Bluegrass World Series: Partnering in Service to Gold Star Families
The Hershel "Woody" Williams Medal of Honor Foundation and the Bluegrass World Series are partnering to host the 4th Annual Gold Star Family Day at the Ball Park and the 1st Annual Stars and Stripes Celebrity Golf Tournament.
LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 14, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Hershel "Woody" Williams Medal of Honor Foundation (HWWMOHF), in partnership with the Bluegrass World Series will host the 4th Annual Gold Star Family Day at the Ball Park and the 1st Annual Stars and Stripes Celebrity Golf Tournament in August of 2019. This dynamic partnership was first formed in 2018 as the two organizations joined forces in support of the HWWMOHF's mission of honoring, recognizing, and serving Gold Star Families and the legacy of their Loved Ones who have sacrificed their lives in the U.S. Military.
Building upon the success of last year's event, the Bluegrass World Series returns to Louisville Slugger Field, the home of the Louisville Bats. This will be an incredible four-day baseball event featuring a team of 30 former Major League players competing against top-tier collegiate wood bat summer league teams from around the country from August 7-August 10, 2019. The Major League players will be competing as the Louisville Stars and the roster features Chipper Jones, Johnny Damon, Tim Hudson and many more. As a part of the Bluegrass World Series, there will be a Military Appreciation Night on August 9, 2019 which will be highlighted by 4th Annual Gold Star Family Day at the Ball Park, the outreach event held annually by the HWWMOHF. This unique event, hosts 300 Gold Star Family members for a day of baseball, food, community, and fun.
This year, in addition to the baseball tournament and events, the HWWMOHF, the Bluegrass World Series, and Chariot Run Golf Club will be hosting the 1st Annual Stars & Stripes Celebrity Golf Tournament benefitting the Hershel "Woody" Williams Medal of Honor Foundation. This one-of-a-kind golf event will allow golfers to be paired with Major League players from the Bluegrass World Series as well as some of our Nation's most highly decorated Veterans, Medal of Honor recipients. A portion of the proceeds from this golf event will be donated to the Hershel "Woody" Williams Medal of Honor Foundation. The Gold Star Family Day at the Ball Park:
Since 2016, Louisville Slugger Field has been the site of the Gold Star Family Day at the Ball Park. This is a unique program developed by the Hershel "Woody" Williams Medal of Honor Foundation, hosts 300 Gold Star Family members for a day of baseball, food, community, and fun. In 2018 the Bluegrass World Series partnered with the Hershel "Woody" Williams Medal of Honor Foundation with the goal of supporting the mission of honoring, recognizing, and serving Gold Star Families and their fallen Heroes while raising awareness about Gold Star Families and their sacrifice. By highlighting the Gold Star Family Day at the Ball Park as a part of the Bluegrass World Series, the impact of the event was significantly enhanced. This offered an opportunity for Gold Star Families to strengthen relationships within their Gold Star Family community, and demonstrated to Gold Star Families that the community supports them and appreciates their sacrifice and the ultimate sacrifice of their Loved Ones.
