SYOSSET, N.Y., Jan. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- With a new year comes new responsibilities. On January 1st, 2019 New York City prohibited the use, possession and sale of single-use foam food containers. This will include but is not limited to foam takeout clamshells, cups, plates, bowls, and trays. Also, stores and manufacturers are banned from selling or having the possession of loose fill foam packaging ("packing peanuts") within the city. Any business or agency that is affected will have a six-month period of warning that will last until June 30th. After July 1st, any businesses found using foam will receive fines for each notice of violation issued within a 12-month period.
