BOCA RATON, Fla., April 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Palm Beach Fertility Center in Boca Raton, Florida is proud to be the first IVF Center in the State of Florida to offer a new screening test for achondroplasia and osteogenesis imperfecta and over 20 other rare single gene disorders.
Preimplantation genetic testing has revolutionized the field of fertility treatment by allowing us to test embryos for genetic conditions prior to implantation. There are many conditions, however, that arise as new mutations in each embryo and thus are not detectable by conventional PGT techniques. A revolutionary new test called Vistara offers us the ability to test an embryo very early in pregnancy, at 10 weeks of gestation, to see if any of these rare but potentially serious and life threatening conditions exist. The Palm Beach Fertility Center in Boca Raton is the first IVF Clinic in Florida to offer this revolutionary new test.
MORE ABOUT THIS TEST: Vistara is a single gene noninvasive prenatal test that screens for multiple conditions including achondroplasia, Apert syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Noonan syndrome, osteogenesis imperfecta, Rett syndrome, and many others. Using DNA deep sequencing techniques and combining serum samples from the biological mother and father, these conditions can be detected in the unborn fetus as early as 10 weeks of gestation. These conditions are not detected with standard karyotype or PGT microarray analysis. Because these mutations arise as de novo or new mutations, family history is not typically a good indicator of risk. Early identification of these conditions is important because the babies can be severely affected. Indications for Vistara testing include advanced paternal age, women who want to know everything about the potential genetic health of their baby and in cases of ultrasound abnormalities such as short and long bones and increased nuchal translucency.
As Pioneers in Advanced Fertility Treatments and leaders in high quality care, we are proud to be the first fertility clinic in all of the State of Florida to offer this new test. For more information about this test, please contact Dr. Mark Denker and the Palm Beach Fertility Center.
