Free Confidential Technical Assistance, Research, Training, and Resources Provided to Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming
GREELEY, Colo., Jan. 28, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Rocky Mountain ADA Center (RMADAC), a member of the National Network of ADA Centers, is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) with a renewed commitment to increasing awareness of the ADA centers' services, and understanding of the law's provisions.
The ADA was signed into law on July 26, 1990 by President George H.W. Bush and protects the civil rights of the largest minority group in the United States (over 70 million Americans, according to the CDC).
Throughout 2025, RMADAC will expand its efforts to raise awareness and understanding of the ADA. The center will continue to provide free and confidential technical assistance, training, and information related to ADA compliance for a broad range of stakeholders, including people with disabilities and their families, state and local governments, private businesses, and other organizations. In addition to its ongoing educational initiatives, RMADAC will conduct cutting-edge research, collaborate with media partners, and produce its influential podcast to further its mission.
In addition to furthering its core services, RMADAC will embark on a coordinated social media campaign in collaboration with other National Network members in recognition of the ADA anniversary and host free webinars for the public throughout the year.
As part of its 35th-anniversary observance, RMADAC is launching a Government Relations Tour across its region. The tour will involve meetings with state governors and key officials to strengthen understanding of the ADA and the RMADAC, promote statewide proclamations recognizing the significance of the law, and encourage collaboration on furthering ADA implementation within each state.
"2025 marks a pivotal milestone for the ADA," said Emily Shuman, Director of the Rocky Mountain ADA Center. "Celebrating 35 years of this groundbreaking law reminds us of its enduring importance supporting people with disabilities in all aspects of public life. The law ensures equal rights and opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Our team is excited to enhance our training and research capabilities this year, and I am personally honored to visit every state housed in our region to reinforce our partnerships with each governor and their commitment to the ADA and continue sharing the ADA Center's services with their citizens."
