WINNETKA, Calif., June 27, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the installation of Mihran Kalaydjian as President of its governing Board of Directors beginning in the 2023 concert season. Mihran replaces past-president Gary Thomas who passed away several years ago leaving the post vacant. Kalaydjian comes from a professional background in aerospace, but music has always been an important part of his life and playing the piano is one of his greatest passions.
During his childhood, Mihran started teaching himself to play, developing his own style over a span of 25 years. His technique and touch combine his inner emotions to various genres. "I quit my classical piano training at age seven, seeking a more glamorous life as a professional athlete. I still hear my father's words ringing clearly in my head, "Someday you'll thank me," referring to my childhood piano training. I am very enthusiastic about the future potential of our orchestra and welcome the many challenges we face as we bring symphonic music into the next generation."
For 40 years the San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra has presented the finest performances of symphonic music to the communities of Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. The SFVSO is a non-profit public benefit corporation that has emerged as the region's leading symphony orchestra and one of its premier performing arts organizations. Led by founding Music Director and Conductor James Domine, the orchestra is well known as a showcase for some of the finest musicians and composers in Southern California. The SFVSO regularly performs a five-concert season in its home venue, the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood. Kalaydjian is excited to establish several new initiatives for the SFVSO, including a business and corporate sponsorship program, a series of gala fundraising events, programs for youth and veterans among other special interest groups, in addition to expanding the orchestra's impact through digital media platforms.
