ORANGE BEACH, Ala., May 6, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Following a seven-month renovation in response to damage sustained from Hurricane Sally, The Best Western Premier, The Tides Hotel, reopened its doors to eager beachgoers on May 3.
Last September, the intimate gulf-front property—a bastion of southern charm with hues of the ocean and accents of driftwood—sustained severe damage to its roof, exterior, and boardwalk. Occurring just after a successful summer season, following an initial Covid-19 closure in the spring, the hurricane left hotel ownership with no choice but to work quickly and creatively.
"Problems always present an opportunity if handled correctly," said Dr. Wesley Spruill, owner of the hotel. "In this case, we changed an already well-designed property into a more unique, modern boutique showcase—with new, fresh colors, interiors, furniture, and landscaping."
In addition to fresh coats of paint both inside and out, The Tides has been outfitted with all new furniture and carpeting. Amidst another unforeseen closure, the hotel's owners wanted not only to maintain but improve The Tides' boutique hotel experience.
The Tides boasts a mix of suites ranging from kids' rooms with bunk beds and Xboxes to two-room suites with separate living areas and ample guest amenities. Other highlights include stunning, floor-to-ceiling ocean views from the hotel's 4th floor lobby and an upgraded food and beverage program with lunch and dinner options.
"Customers always appreciate and gravitate towards quality and well-designed and located properties," said Dr. Spruill, alluding to how the renovations will—and already are—benefitting future business.
With three other Orange Beach hotels still closed for renovations, newly opened hotels like The Tides are even busier than usual. The hotel is very close to being completely booked for all three nights of Memorial Day Weekend.
Updates to the property's beachfront include an oceanfront heated outdoor pool and hot tub, bike rentals, a fire pit, and an outdoor pool bar. In keeping with Covid-19 protocols, hotel staff will continue to wear masks, utilize disinfectants, implement use of sneeze guards, additional hand sanitizer, and gloves in breakfast areas, as well as encourage social distancing.
An official "green property" with Best Western, The Tides regularly monitors the hotel's electric, gas, and water usage. Reuse and recycling programs are in effect for towels and linens, as well as hazardous materials found in fluorescent bulbs and batteries.
