LOS ANGELES, Dec. 3, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ranker, known as the world's leading publisher for fan-powered rankings on just about everything with over one billion votes, just announced the Top TV Shows and Streaming Networks through the month of November 2020 according to users of the TV recommendation app Watchworthy.
Top lists for 2020 were created using data from Watchworthy, a free app that offers personalized TV recommendations and allows users to build their own watchlist from TV networks and over 200 streaming services such as Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Apple TV+, and many more. In just 30 seconds, Watchworthy gets to know users' specific tastes in TV and recommends new shows they're statistically more likely to love.
After getting their recommendations, users can add shows they plan on streaming to their "Watchlists". Our data takes a look at the shows that users added to their Watchlists over the month of November 2020, as well as the platforms where those shows are available to stream.
"We're seeing this data clearly now that more and more users are taking full advantage of Watchworthy by creating and sharing their personal streaming Watchlists with friends and family," said Clark Benson, CEO and founder at Ranker. "This increase is partly due to the surge in new phone sales and app usage at an all-time high for 2020, which has already surpassed last year's holiday season."
Here's what the data showed:
According to Watchworthy, of all the shows added to Watchlists in November, nearly 40% are part of Netflix's catalogue.
Hulu comes in second with a 25% share of these must-watch shows. That's thanks in large part to a variety of widely popular animated comedies that make up the streaming service's catalogue, including Bob's Burgers, Family Guy, and Archer. Taken together, those three shows alone account for 628 of all the Watchlist additions during November.
Most people think of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video as being the Big Three of the streaming world, but according to Watchworthy numbers, HBO Max is far more deserving of a spot in that exclusive group than Amazon is. HBO's streaming platform beat Prime by two percentage points, combining the strength of its own original content like Game of Thrones and Westworld with the shows it acquired from other networks for its content library, including Rick and Morty, The Big Bang Theory, and South Park. Amazon Prime's biggest winner was its breakout hit The Boys, which was added to a total of 241 Watchlists.
Finally, Disney+ held its own with 4% of the total Watchlist. Much of that share is due to The Simpsons, which was added to 347 different Watchlists over the course of the month. The only show that more Watchworthy users made plans to stream was Stranger Things, which was added to Watchlists 356 times during the same period.
Below is a list of the Top 20 TV shows and streaming platforms added to Watchlists most frequently throughout the month of November:
