Dr. Shteynberg, recently presented his innovative "Tetris Technique" for gynecomastia at the prestigious American College of Surgery Long Island/Brooklyn Chapter Conference.
NEW YORK, Jan. 3, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On December 7th, 2022, Dr. Aleksandr Shteynberg shared his expertise in gynecomastia with his colleagues at the American College of Surgery Long Island/Brooklyn Chapter Conference. Gynecomastia ("man boobs") is the enlargement of male breasts due to excessive growth of the breast tissue. At the conference, Dr. Shteynberg introduced his innovative "Tetris Technique" which allows for the natural-looking improvement of the appearance of the male breast during gynecomastia surgery. The "Tetris" analogy is used because the procedure allows for a precise fit that decreases projection and is achieved by simulating a Tetris-like puzzle. His original technique enhances natural results, improves blood supply and sensation and decreases the need for revision.
For male patients who have large breasts and stretched-out skin, in addition to liposuction and direct excision of the tissue, removal of extra skin and reshaping of the whole breast and chest area is necessary to create a masculine-appearing chest. When working on severe forms of gynecomastia, the challenges for the surgeon are avoiding excessive protrusion of breasts and incomplete correction of the feminine appearance, aggressive thinning of the tissue, damaged blood vessels that can cause possible loss of the nipple and areola and excess nerve damage. To address these issues, Dr. Shteynberg designed his unique procedure which is performed after the removal of extra skin. With his "Tetris Technique," the breast and fat tissue are shaped like the two pieces of the puzzle with the bottom piece containing the nipple and areola and the upper portion creating the receiving end. The nipple-containing portion is pulled up and the upper portion skin is pulled down while the nipple is fixed to the right place creating a tight masculine appearing chest. Dr. Shteynberg has successfully used this technique on a number of patients with excellent outcomes, improving appearance, confidence and social life. The plastic surgeons that attended the conference greatly benefited from Dr. Shteynberg's knowledge on this subject matter. They can now utilize his specialized technique for improvements in their own practice when correcting gynecomastia in men and transgender men looking to create a masculine chest appearance.
"While thinking about the possible complications regarding this surgical procedure, I was able to develop this successful, innovative technique to avoid excessive protrusion, decrease the risk of damage to blood vessels and inhibit sensation loss," says Dr. Aleksandr Shteynberg.
