Vancouver Modern Home Tour Returns in September
VANCOUVER (PRWEB) August 21, 2019 -- Some tour-goers search for an architect or home builder to work with on their next project; others hope to find a little inspiration; whatever the reasons may be, all tour-goers come to see a curated selection of Vancouver homes that embody the Pacific coast’s unique modern architecture and design aesthetic.
On Saturday, September 14th, the Modern Architecture+ Design Society (MA+DS) returns to Vancouver for the 2019 Modern Home Tour. The annual event gives regional architects, designers, and home builders the opportunity to showcase their work to the community in which they work. In turn, the self-guided tour gives the community an opportunity to engage the minds behind the designs and ask questions as they explore some of Vancouver’s modern homes inside and out.
“The Vancouver Modern Home Tour has become the traditional kick-off event for our fall tour series, and it’s one we are always excited for,” says MA+DS founder and president, James Leasure. “Vancouver has an amazing and inspiring movement in modern residential architecture and design. Our 2019 line-up features some incredible work from some of the area’s leading architects and interior designers. We cannot wait to showcase these projects to our tour-goers.”
Six homes have been accepted and confirmed for the 2019 Vancouver Modern Home Tour. Participating architects and designers, and featured neighborhoods include:
- A new “forever” home for a north shore family in the Capilano Highlands designed by Shelter Residential Design
- The brand new “Third Chapter House”, designed and built by One SEED Architecture + Interiors, located in Lower Lonsdale
- A second Lower Lonsdale project, the MODCUBE laneway designed by Synthesis Design Inc.; staging courtesy of Urban Presentations
- A second laneway home that embraces luxury, located in East Vancouver, designed by Madeleine Design Group Inc. and built by Rain City Renos
- A complete renovation by Architecture Building Culture of a 1971 Barclay McLeod home, located out in Eagle Harbour
- A new modern home in Riley Park, designed by Landefab Design/Build, that has been certified as a ‘Passive House’
KPU’s Wilson School of Design has been confirmed as the Modern Home Tour local non-profit partner and beneficiary group for the 6th year in a row. Fashion marketing students will help staff the event, in return for a donation to the school’s program and the opportunity to use the tour as a fundraising vehicle, while also contributing community service hours, a cornerstone of the applied learning that Kwantlen students are known for.
Homes participating in the 7th annual Vancouver Modern Home Tour will open their doors for viewing from 11AM – 5PM on Saturday, September 14th. Tickets to see all homes are $45 in advance, $50 on the day of the event. Ages 10 and up are invited to attend. Details on participants can be found at http://www.vancouvermodernhometour.com.
