2023 Marks 25th Anniversary of the Founding of Building God's Way
A national leader in faith-based architecture with more than 1,000 ministry clients, Building God's Way (BGW Architects) began work on its first design project in 1998.
OGDEN, Utah, Jan. 9, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Building God's Way (BGW Architects) has become recognized as an industry leader in faith-based architecture, with more than 1,000 designs for Christian churches and schools across the U.S. The firm began design on its first ministry project in 1998 for Lakeland Christian Academy in Winona Lake, Indiana. Growth was slow and gradual during the first few years, but BGW experienced tremendous expansion in the early 2000's as ministries around the country began to learn about this uniquely different approach; an approach that was focused on delivering the highest level of stewardship, God-honoring relationships and intentional ministry focus.
"Seldom in the longevity of one's career do we as individuals get to pair our professional skills to a purpose far greater than ourselves", said BGW President & Principal Architect Don Mahoney. "Here at BGW, we are blessed to get to do this every day. As we look back over the last 25 years, we have so much to be thankful for, including the dedicated staff at BGW who truly understand our purpose, our loyal construction partners around the country who have become part of the BGW family, and our more than 1,000 clients nationwide who have entrusted us with their ministry dreams. What better place to be! Looking forward to the next 25 years and seeing where God will lead us."
Don Mahoney joined BGW as a partner in 2003 and brought a wealth of design experience as the owner of a successful firm and former President of the American Institute of Architects local chapter. Now the President and Principal Architect at BGW, Don has become a leader in the field of faith-based architecture and has been recognized with a number of national church design awards.
Since its founding, BGW has been deeply committed to showing ministries how to impact workers on every job site with the love of Christ, a firm commitment that has become the heart of BGW and has impacted thousands through a program called The Ministry of Construction. The company truly believes that every church or Christian school building project presents a unique ministry opportunity. Through simple acts of kindness, hospitality, and appreciation, ministries are able to build relationships with local construction workers that may be working on their property for several months or more.
Glenn Meredith, Senior Pastor of Brookhaven Church in McKinney, TX, said "One of the great values that BGW really made clear to us right up front was the importance of reaching out to the people who were actually building the facility. Our church really embraced that and all throughout the construction process we served the workers on a regular basis. That really changed our church".
BGW transitioned to an employee-owned company in 2015 and in the spring of 2022 the firm completed design on its 1,000th ministry-based project. Over the years, BGW has worked with ministry organizations across 47 U.S. states and 3 foreign countries. The company has experienced tremendous growth in the professional development of its staff in recent years, expanding from 2 licensed architects to 9. BGW is also staffed with a highly trained support team of designers, drafters, project managers, as well as personnel in the areas of business development, accounting, and administration.
About Building God's Way (BGW Architects) - The BGW concept was born out of a calling to help ministries address the fundamental flaws in the design and construction process, in which poor stewardship and conflict are far too common. Through a unique approach developed exclusively for churches and Christian schools, BGW seeks to revolutionize the design and construction process and significantly reduce both up-front building costs and long term maintenance and operation expenses. In addition to its industry-leading design services, BGW is also aligned with a nationwide network of faith-based contractors that are leaders in church construction, as well as other strategic partners in the areas of funding, strategic planning, pastoral coaching, building supplies and more.
