82% of Ecommerce Sellers Predict Business Growth for 2014
London (PRWEB UK) 17 March 2014 -- A recent survey by ecommerce platform provider Create Ecommerce http://www.create.net, who host over 10,000 websites, shows that business confidence for online selling throughout 2014 is high. 82% of sellers surveyed felt that 2014 would be a better year than 2013 and that their business would grow, with only 3% predicting a decline in growth.
Create Ecommerce surveyed their customer base of small to medium-sized businesses that use the ecommerce platform to sell online. The study showed high optimism for both male and female participants, with male participants slightly more optimistic.
Optimism in the younger age ranges was strong with 88% of 18-29 year olds saying that 2014 would be a positive year of growth.
Participants in the 18-29 year old age range also contained the highest number of startup companies, with 63% of companies being under 2 years old. Although the percentage of startup owners in the 50+ age range were lower, these still stood at 30%.
Joanne Dewberry, who runs ecommerce business Charlie Moos and is the author of ‘Crafting a Successful Small Business’, said 'I do feel positive and optimistic about 2014.'
Her advice to other ecommerce businesses is to network hard, both off and online. 'Through networking I've managed to sell products, get my books in a few stores and met lots of useful contacts to help me grow my business. If you have a problem you can bet someone else has already been there, done that and can offer advice! Networking is a great tool for business development. Twitter is a useful resource for chatting with small businesses. Each county has its own hashtag hour, for example #DorsetHour.'
Joanne is even getting the rest of the family into online business. 'Daddy Moo's site is on Create Ecommerce and my Dad is even currently building a site with them too. I always suggest giving the 30-day free trial a go! I mean, what do you have to lose?'
CEO Rebecca Kimber said, 'It's great news to see such high optimism amongst online traders and we are working hard to release a number of new updates to our system that will support strong growth in 2014.
'Having been an ecommerce trader for over 10 years myself, I understand the challenges many small traders experience, such as promoting your company, growing sales and finding the space and time to launch and run your business alongside other commitments.
'These are the people we aim to help via the platform and by providing resources, support and advice. It's due to this commitment to our customers that 97% of sellers using our platform would recommend us to others.'
