9-Week Multimedia Training Announced by Berkeley Advanced Media Institute
Berkeley, California (PRWEB) February 15, 2016 -- Berkeley Advanced Media Institute has opened registration for their Digital Media Skills Certificate Course, an intensive 9-week graduate level multimedia training program focusing on learning the skills for production of digital media content and reaching an increasingly online and mobile-facing audience.
The coursework includes lessons on video, digital photography, podcasting, data visualizations and coding. It will also cover the strategy behind choosing appropriate digital platforms and how to employ social media to engage an audience. The program will be held March 1-April 28 at UC Berkeley.
The class content is designed for all media career professionals, including content creators, editors, communication specialists and public relations officers. The media skills taught in the course are also relevant to non-profits, marketing professionals, and anyone who needs to produce quality content for a digital audience.
Berkeley AMI recognizes that this is an age in which having a multimedia skills set is crucial to becoming an effective content producer for the web and social media. For that reason, everyone is encouraged to register and those who sign up with a friend will each receive an Apple iPad.
Many new media industry leaders will be teaching the course, including Emmy award-winning multimedia producer Richard Koci Hernandez; Jeremy Rue, a key new media luminary; Peter Aldhous, BuzzFeed science journalist; and Ben Manilla, an award-winning radio personality.
“When I talk with HR managers from media to technology companies, we regularly discuss what types of new media digital skills they’re looking for when hiring editors, PR, content creators, and communication professionals now and in the future,” said Vicki Hammarstedt, director of Berkeley AMI. “We shape our course content on real marketplace needs. Career professionals are busy people. Our goal is to provide relevant career-building skills that can be applied immediately to their profession.”
At the end of the course, participants will have the practical skills needed to produce engaging digital pieces. Their instruction will culminate in a final multimedia capstone project that makes use of everything they have learned, including photo and video, audio, and data visualization. Fundamentals of HTML and CSS, principles of design, and social media strategies will also be covered.
Students will leave the course with a certificate, ready to apply their newfound skill set to their career.
