Alectra Utilities Chooses Survalent for its Enterprise SCADA System
BRAMPTON, Ontario (PRWEB) August 23, 2018 -- Survalent, a leading provider of advanced distribution management system (ADMS) software, today announced that Alectra Utilities Corporation (Alectra) has selected SurvalentONE SCADA as its enterprise SCADA solution. The move will support the utility’s strategic initiatives of enhancing the customer experience by optimizing operations and providing integrated and technologically advanced energy solutions to their customers.
In 2017, Enersource, Horizon Utilities, and PowerStream merged to form Alectra and then acquired Hydro One Brampton to become the second largest municipally-owned electricity utility in North America, based on total number of customers served. Alectra now serves approximately one million residential and commercial customers in 15 communities of Ontario, Canada. Combining the four utilities into one creates efficiencies that Alectra will use to reduce costs, improve customer service, increase the safety and reliability of electrical supply, and enhance emergency response capabilities. To support these goals, Alectra plans to invest in innovative technologies that provide more choices for energy conservation and enhance the quality of life of their customers.
“The formation of Alectra from four progressive electricity distributors into a single entity created the ideal opportunity to pursue an innovative technology plan,” said Max Cananzi, President of Alectra Utilities Corporation. “One of our priorities has been to streamline our control room operations by selecting a robust and powerful SCADA system that will allow us to reduce costs and recognize operational efficiencies to better serve our customers.”
By deploying SurvalentONE SCADA, Alectra will be able to simplify system maintenance, upgrades, and support, thereby reducing the associated costs. Moving operators onto a single platform with an intuitive user interface, superior data acquisition capabilities, and a flexible architecture increases operator productivity and effectiveness.
“With SurvalentONE SCADA, Alectra has chosen a future-proof investment that enables them to deliver safe, reliable energy today and seamlessly add energy distribution options as new technologies become available,” commented Steve Mueller, President and Chief Executive Officer of Survalent. “We’re extremely gratified that they’ve standardized on Survalent as part of their plan to deliver reliable and cost-efficient service to approximately a million customers in the Greater Golden Horseshoe area.”
