Avoid Post-cancellation Financial Chaos with Travel Insurance
(PRWEB) August 13, 2018 -- Hundreds of flights have already been cancelled – with Ryanair alone cancelling 600 and more likely to follow; insurance can save passengers a financial bump.
Aquarium is developing apps to improve the customer claims journey, while efficiency savings can be passed onto the consumer in the form of lower premiums. Smart apps are encouraging more to source travel insurance early and changing product perceptions, but one in ten still don’t protect themselves or their families with insurance – madness with strike action prevalent and when a third of all claims result from cancelled holidays.
“While the law says the airline must replace or refund, that does not necessarily cover other out of pocket costs and expenses you may incur, not to mention any compensation, your onward journey or ultimate holiday plans,” said Aquarium Software Director, Mark Colonnese. “This seems hardly fair – but travel insurance is the simple way to avoid or at least minimise the problem,” said Mark. “One in six leave insurance to departure day, but this is too late to claim should your flight or holiday be cancelled the same day. The moral is to buy early, and with Brexit just months away, that advice is truer than ever,” added Colonnese.
Mark advises travellers to ensure cover for the things that matter most, with health top of the list and to be very clear about pre-existing medical conditions, no matter how trivial or insignificant they may seem “Be honest about all historical medical conditions,” advises Mark. “Declare everything and if in doubt, check with your GP. That forgotten migraine prescription could leave you with a real headache should you need to claim and fail to mention it. In school holidays, cancellation and Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance (SAFI) is vital; it may have seemed unlikely for many at the time, but Monarch did go bust last year. Airline failures can happen again, so make sure you are as protected as you can be.”
