LOS ANGELES, Oct. 12, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Below the Line, the trade magazine that is currently celebrating its 20th year as the voice of Hollywood's crew, has launched a new publication, Above the Line, which covers the rest of the media spectrum, from actors and producers to writers and directors, as well as the rest of the ever-changing industry landscape.
The new outlet just launched this week, capitalizing on the fanfare of awards and upcoming holiday blockbusters. Leading the new outlet is veteran writer/editor Jeff Sneider, who says that "industry coverage has grown stale of late, with most outlets content to simply go through the motions. Above the Line will deliver what Hollywood craves -- the kind of inside scoops and hard-hitting analysis that others are afraid to offer these days for fear of rocking the boat."
The future of entertainment is evolving in the post-pandemic era, and with the collapse of traditional ancillaries and uncertainty around future release windows, more independent voices are vital to the overall health of the media business. Publisher Patrick Graham, who founded Below the Line in 2002, responded to that era's lack of crew coverage with an outlet that has stood the test of time, and he's now acknowledging the undemocratic control that one publisher has over an entire industry. "Above the Line is a direct response to the monopolistic practices over the past several years in the entertainment trade publication market as fewer and fewer voices are available to the working entertainment community," adds Graham.
After long and frank discussions with the legacy and new studio marketing and advertising divisions, all parties, without exception, moved from curiosity to full throated support for the launch of Above the Line. Graham concludes,"Given Below the Line's 20 years of providing crew and craftspeople with the only outlets for news and jobs, we feel well positioned to provide comprehensive coverage of our industry between both sites, which will cross-promote each other."
