Children’s Book Narrates the History of ‘The White Squirrels of Brevard’
BERKELEY, Calif. (PRWEB) April 18, 2019 -- Debuting author B.T. Scherer invites young readers to learn the history of the white squirrels of Brevard through the adventures of “Squirlie and Maude” (published by AuthorHouse). The book recounts actual events chronicling the journey of two little white squirrels who established a colony in Brevard, North Carolina.
“I learned about the white squirrels of Brevard while visiting my friend in the area. She shared their
history and how important they were to the town,” Scherer explains.
In the book, a young squirrel named Swish invites the reader to listen to Grandpa Squirrel's tale. He tells them how the two fluffy squirrels, Squirlie and Maude, escaped from an overturned carnival truck and ended up establishing a thriving colony in Brevard with the help of three children: Sally, James and Becky.
When asked what she wants readers to take away from the story, the author says, “A fun story to enjoy while learning about how a breed of squirrels established a colony in a small rural area of the country. I hope the reader will empathize with Squirlie and Maude and aspire to protect and care for all animals.”
