Epimed Introduces THORAXIS: Thoracic Neuraxial Simulator
Innovative New Training Device Simulates Thoracic Epidural Injections
DALLAS, Feb. 13, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Through decades of experience and research in pain management, regional anesthesia, and OEM manufacturing, Epimed International is setting the bar with a powerful new training product. The THORAXIS Thoracic Neuraxial Simulator is the ideal training device for common neuraxial blocks of the thoracic spine, or the upper back and abdomen. This ultrasound compatible, anatomically accurate model contains a fluid filled intrathecal space, allowing for realistic loss of resistance and precise placement of epidural needles and catheters.
"We've taken what we've learned over time and built – what we believe – is the best training simulator on the market today," says Epimed President and CEO Gabor J. Racz. "Preventing and relieving pain for patients is our primary mission, and this product is a 'must have' educational tool for anesthesia training facilities and residency programs throughout the world."
The THORAXIS consists of four main components: a body housing, a thoracic core, spinal tubing, and a locking syringe with fill line. The housing functions as a stand, drainage reservoir, and contains anatomical landmarks including: T1-T12 spinous processes, vertebral bodies with interspaces, ligament flava, and an epidural space. The locking syringe and fill line work together to pressurize the spinal tubing with fluid, allowing for CSF confirmation during spinal procedures.
